Blackwood - Visiting

campaigns page

By public transport:

Go to Cardiff Central Station and catch a bus to Blackwood. They leave about once every hour and cost £2.20 each way. There are a couple of cafes nearby if you have to wait. The trip takes about a hour, but depends on traffic.

The camps are a 15 minute walk from the centre of Blackwood. From the bus station entrance, turn left onto the main street. Just past a shop called 'Absolutely Fabulous', there's a road heading down hill. Follow this hill down, turning right then left until you reach the river.

You'll see the Rock and Fountain  pub ahead. Walk up the hill past the pub towards Pontllanfraith / Oakdale until you reach a sharp right hand bend towards the main road. Turn left here into a short dead end street. At the end of the road, turn left onto the old railway line. The first camp is about 200m up the line on a small incline to your right. The second camp is about another 500m up. Both camps are clearly visible from the line.
